Colorful Seasons - Stampin' Up! Artisan Blog Hop

21 July 2017

Welcome to the Artisan Design Team Blog Hop. You may have just arrived here from my lovely friend Kimberly Van Diepen from the US - she is so amazing isn't she? Love her! The Artisan Design Team are highlighting the Colorful Seasons set and I know the team have already wow'ed you with this set already, but we still have more to show you! Make sure you click the next button at the bottom of my post.

The Colorful Seasons stamp set on page 147 has so many beautiful stamps and with the coordinating dies from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits, I know you will be creating for hours on end with this gorgeous bundle!
I stamped half the flower in Melon Mambo and the other half in Pumpkin Pie to create the two-tone effect on the flowers. The two tone sentiment was created by using a dauber to coordinate with the flowers. I wanted to keep my card simple and clean as I felt it gave the oriental feel I wanted achieve using this beautiful set.

Next on the hop is my talented friend Maike Ulbrich from Germany. Everything Maike creates blows me away and today is no different....click the next button below.

Global Design Project - CASEing Tanja Kolar

17 July 2017

#GDP096
This week at the Global Design Project we are getting our inspiration from one of our talented Design Team Members, Tanja Kolar from Germany. I love Tanja's eye to detail when she creates and she always uses embellishments, twine or ribbon to bring her artwork life!

The definition of CASE: Copy And Share Everything or as the GDP call it Copy And Selectively Edit! Put simply, we get our inspiration from a particular project or creation. For this challenge we can use ANY element. You might be inspired by the colours, the stamp set or the card layout.

I took my inspiration from Tanja's card layout and also added the element of twine and bling with the gold glittered wings on the sweet little piggy from the This Little Piggy stamp set. (I seriously love the name of this set!)

This little piggy went to market. And while this little piggy was at the market she had her eye-lashes done and her wings blinged with gold glitter - as one does at the market! ;)  I watercoloured her with Blushing Bride and a hit of Flirty Flamingo.

I made this card for my fabulous Aussie Stampin' Up! friend Carolyn Bennie who promoted to Gold over the weekend - hence the gold glittered wings! (Promoting to Gold in Stampin' Up! is a big deal and if you are a demonstrator I know you will understand the enormity of this milestone - Congratulations Carolyn!). The Bennie family stayed with us over the weekend and we had a wonderful couple of days with them enjoying the local sights. Carolyn and I were even given some girl time at the beautiful Berry Tea Shop (located 2 hours south of Sydney) while the boys took the kids to the famous Berry Donut Van - it was a real treat for all concerned!

Now head over to the Global Design Project and see what the amazing Design Team have in store for you this week.

Be Inspired Blog Hop - My Favourite Technique

13 July 2017

Welcome to the Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop. You may have just arrived here from my beautiful friend Maike Ulbrich from Germany. If you are starting here please make sure you hit the next button at the bottom of this post and hop all the way around.

The theme for this hop is 'Your Favourite Technique'.

For me, it would have to be watercolouring. I understand this might be a little boring for some, however, I LOVE to colour. I find relaxing and I like that there's lots of different watercolouring techniques. I can sit for hours and watercolour...(who said housework was important?! lol.)
I love this little girl from the Garden Girl stamp set, she's adorable and I she reminds me of my sweet little niece. I used Stampin' Write Markers and coloured some of the ink onto a clean clear block and picked up the ink with either the tip of the Aqua Painter and/or a Blender Pen. I used both the Aqua Painter and a Blender Pen on my project today. I stamped the image using Archival Black Ink onto Watercolor Paper.

Tips: Watercolouring takes practice and I certainly don't class myself as a professional! I suggest giving it a try with both Watercolor Paper and Shimmer Paper. If using an Aqua Painter I also have a small bowl of water and paper towel on hand to ensure when I change colours the pen is clean. When colouring I always start where I would like the colour the darkest and blend out. Try also using the ink from the lids of the ink pads and the Watercolor Pencils are great also. My advice is to have some relax time and practise....be warned though....it's addictive!

Next up to 'Be Inspired' by is my amazingly talented friend Brian King from the the US, who is currently enjoying the Stampin' Up! incentive trip in Thailand....however still has time to be craft and be ready for the hop - he really is THAT talented! ;)
